Equitation Extra Credit

QUESTION: In an equitation class, what “extra credit” moves do you like to see, on the flat or over fences? (sitting trot entering the arena, turn on the haunches when changing directions, etc.)

It’s a horse SHOW and judges expect to see horses at their best performance. Savvy riders will go the extra distance and push the envelope in showing off their best qualities and those of their horses. Would a stylish sitting trot, a counter canter into the arena, or a turn on the forehand when reversing make an impact? Our judges reveal their expectations and the moves that impress.
